Recovering plastic film from Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) is a critical yet tough task for the circular economy. Film accounts for 40% of plastic waste in MSW, but its light weight, thinness, and entanglement lead to a global recycling rate below 30%, with most ending up in landfills. DATABEYOND's self-developed FASTSORT-FILM-AI-SPEC solves this with three core technologies for precise MSW film sorting.
1. Innovative Aerodynamic Design: Stable & High-Speed Feeding
The sorter features a proprietary aerodynamic design that actively suppresses internal turbulence, ensuring lightweight materials like films, foams, flexible plastic packaging, and sponges are conveyed evenly, flatly, and stably at high speeds—laying the foundation for precise identification. To boost productivity, its operating speed has been increased from 3.5 m/s to 4.2 m/s, elevating capacity by 1.2 times compared to conventional systems.
2. Advanced Material Collection Bin: Optimal Flight Trajectory
DATABEYOND's self-developed collection bin structure precisely controls airflow to plot a stable, accurate "flight path" for identified lightweight materials. This ensures materials fall precisely into designated recovery bins, minimizing floating, turbulence, backflow, and secondary contamination—key issues that plague traditional sorters.
3. AI + Hyperspectral Sensor Fusion: Precise Material & Color Sorting
Unlike traditional NIR technology that struggles with complex materials, the sorter integrates AI and hyperspectral sensors to create a "spectral fingerprint" database. This dual-fusion technology accurately identifies different plastic films (PE, PET, PP, PVC, etc.) with a sorting accuracy of approximately 90%, even distinguishing between visually similar multi-layer composites.
Two Models for Diverse Capacity Needs
To adapt to varying customer requirements, DATABEYOND offers two models:
- FASTSORT-FILM-AI-SPEC-206B: 2m effective width × 6m effective length of the high-speed belt
- FASTSORT-FILM-AI-SPEC-286B: 2.8m effective width × 6m effective length of the high-speed belt
Both models carry the "FASTSORT" (DATABEYOND crawler-type optical sorter series), "FILM" (film-specific), "AI" (AI sensor), and "SPEC" (hyperspectral sensor) designations.
DATABEYOND's FASTSORT-FILM-AI-SPEC transforms film recycling from a bottleneck to an opportunity. By combining stability, speed, and precision, it helps recyclers boost yields and meet strict circular economy standards.
